Job Description:

1. Primary responsibility of development of web-based User Interfaces using strong knowledge of JavaScript, CSS and HTML.
2. Primary tasks include working in Agile SDLC projects, build UI prototypes, document detailed technical design, develop and maintain client-side components
3. Work with Business Analysts to review and understand business User Experience project requirements
4. Work with server-side development team to ensure successful implementation of prototyped User Interfaces Understanding Corporate Brand standards and ensure UI compliance.
5. Adhere to development standards and best-practice including source code control, build and development of deployment instructions Perform code reviews Conduct integration testing
6. Fix defects based on results of testing Handle support tickets of UI bugs/issues as reported by end-users Clearly articulate pro’s, con’s and risks of various design and approaches for both the proposed technical implementation and the proposed User Experience designs Become a thought leader in UX and Client-Development trends and technology Actively participate in continuous improvement by suggesting practices, lessons learned, etc.
7. Maintain a relationship with the other systems engineers, designers, and other teams on the project Mentoring and coaching junior members of the systems engineering team on UI coding best practices Define and document User Experience / Client-Side-Development standards Contributes to and is consulted during design activities; will be the “expert” for UI/UX design and coding for their assigned projects Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

The key skills required are as follows:

• Advanced technical skills, specialized in UI & front-end design and coding (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, HTML 5, etc.)
• Experience constructing modern web interfaces – including responsive design
• Creative insights – able to build world-class user experiences that are dynamic, visually appealing and current.
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Proficient using JQuery
• Current with challenges and solutions in the UI coding space (mobile device UI optimization, cross-browser coding, iPad/tablet challenges, compatibility limitations of various devices and browsers, responsive web design, etc.)
• Understands Web Development technologies and constructs HTML prototypes that are easily used by server-side developers.
• Provides UX/UI/CSS/HTML support to the development team during construction.
• Ensures the final solution is consistent with proposed design approach.
• Experience working with multiple JavaScript frameworks/libraries (ex. Bootstrap, AngularJS, KnockoutJS, Modernizr, etc.)

Good to Have:

• Background in creative design
• A design portfolio or examples of past work
• Expert knowledge of CSS3 / HTML5 as well as knowledge of cross-browser concerns of using each technology
• Knowledge on the other server-side development)
• Experience building AJAX-based browser components
• Understands the principles of Web Usability
• Knowledge of Web Accessibility standards (UX alternatives for users with impairments)
