Lead Database Performance Engineer

Job Summary:

The Service Delivery and Operations Manager will deliver optimum database solution design services and support service operations in the most cost effective manner.
Performance Management – troubleshooting, tuning, performance analysis and pro-active monitoring
Preventive Maintenance - Complete end to end analysis of database environment, health checks, configuration management
Collaborate with the rest of NBS IT to ensure quality services are seamlessly delivered to the business stakeholders as per agreed own and other IT Units service descriptions.
Operate the mission critical applications and systems of all divisions and Group which are in the scope of the BEF and/or COE, ensuring their stability and integrity.
Manage a service delivery model with standardized services, processes and tools to provide efficient, high quality industrialized services.
My have responsibilities of People Manager for a team of Database Engineers and automation experts globally plus additional external resources as pipeline dictates.
May have to manage the budget for the area of Database Performance Engineering

Required:
  • More than 14 years of IT managing experience in large scale infrastructure teams in global environment and delivering database services across geographic and business boundaries.
  • Knowledge in application development
  • Expert in Performance analysis and optimization of distributed, multi-threaded, database driven applications
  • Fluency in SQL and database specific programming language (PL/SQL, T-SQL etc.)
  • Ability to do Data Modelling including ER & dimension modelling for oracle/SQL
  • Physical Schema design for given Database (indexing, constraints, partitioning, caching etc.
  • Experience with Oracle 12c, Grid OEM, SQL Server 2012, 2014
  • Experience in related database technologies and products such as dataguard, golden gate, RAC, SQL Server Analytical and Reporting Services, SQL Always ON etc.
  • Ability to understand the business applications and transaction model including end-to-end flow from 'system' perspective.
  • Excellent debugging and optimization skills in as many areas as possible not restricted to SQL or Oracle database tuning such as operating system perf tools (perf, top, vmstat, iostat, etc.)
  • Knowledge of a scripting language such as Python, Perl, or Bash, etc. to automate and drive performance experiments
  • Hands on multithreading experience, preferably with pthreads
  • Ability to translate technology into business value
  • Good understanding of clients business processes and objectives
  • Capability to lead global teams
  • Good project management skills
  • Good communicator
  • Responsible for managing both operational and capital budgets
  • Managed large scale infrastructure and business projects
  • Effective relationship management experience
  • Experienced in coordination and in directing service providers
EDUCATION:
Degree in Computer Science with consulting experience and expertise in database technologies
Desirable:
ITIL v3 experience and certification
