Google auto-detects the whereabouts to get local search results

22:33

The country codes in Google's top-level domain names don't mean anything anymore. The tech titan has moved away from relying on country-specific domains to serve up localized results on mobile web, the Google app for iOS, as well as Search and Maps for desktop. Now, your location dictates the kind of results you'll get -- you could go to google.com.au, for instance, but if you're in New Zealand, you'll still get search results tailored for your current whereabouts. You'll know the location Google recognizes by looking at the lower left-hand corner of the page, as you can see above.

Google will automatically detect if you go to another country and serve you results for your new location. So, you'll get results tailored for Japan if you go there, but Google will seamlessly transition back to United States when you fly back home. It sounds a bit troublesome if you want to see localized results for another country while you're still home, but you can always switch to another location. Simply go to Settings and look for the drop-down menu marked "Regions for Search Results" to set the location you want.

Delete for everyone: New WhatsApp Feature

21:29

Since last year, it was rumoured that WhatsApp is working on the recall feature where a user can delete a sent message. And the feature today went official as ‘Delete for Everyone.’ As the name itself suggests, you can delete the sent messages. WhatsApp has now updated its FAQ page for Android, iOS, and Windows Phone and stated that the feature is rolling out for all the users across the globe. That said, you may not receive the feature right away as the update rollout is an incremental one. Currently, it is reported by WABetaInfo that users in Singapore and Spain are already receiving the feature, but there’s no info on Indian roll out though and I did not receive the feature even though being on the latest WhatsApp Beta version.

WhatsApp Delete for Everyone feature works in two ways- Delete for Everyone and Delete for Yourself. The former deletes the message in your chat and also the receiver’s chat, while the latter deletes the message only in your chat screen. It’s also confirmed that a user can delete the message only before seven minutes after sending the SMS. “You can only delete messages for everyone for up to seven minutes after sending. Once seven minutes have passed, there is no way to delete messages for everyone,” stated WhatsApp in the FAQ section.

Furthermore, messages you successfully delete for everyone will be replaced with “This message was deleted” in your receiver’s chat. Similarly, if you see “This message was deleted” in a chat, it means that the sender deleted their message for everyone.Additionally, delete messages for everyone works even in an individual chat or group chat. If you delete a message in the group, it will replace the text as message deleted by the user.

H-1B visa extension: It's more difficult now

23:57

The Trump administration has made it more difficult to renew non-immigrant visas such as H-1B and L1, popular among Indian IT professionals, with a new directive saying the burden of proof lies on the applicant even when an extension is sought. The new directive came even as external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj said in Delhi that she had raised the issue of H-1B visas with visiting US secretary of state Rex Tillerson and had asked the US to do nothing that would adversely affect India's interests.

Rescinding a policy more than 13 years old, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) said the burden of proof in establishing eligibility is, at all times, on the petitioner. USCIS said the previous memorandum of April 23, 2004 appeared to place this burden on this federal agency. "This memorandum makes it clear that the burden of proof remains on the petitioner, even where an extension of non-immigrant status is sought," USCIS said in a memorandum issued on October 23.Under the previous policy, if a person was once found to be eligible for a work visa, they would usually be considered for extension of their visa. Now, during every extension, they need to prove to the federal authorities that they are still eligible.

After her meeting with Tillerson, Swaraj said people-to-people contacts had played a critical role in the development of India-US relations. "This is most evident in our mutually beneficial digital partnership, driven by our skilled professionals. In this regard, we have also discussed the very significant contribution to the US economy of Indian skilled professionals who travel and work under the H1-B and L-1 visa programmes," said Swaraj. Replying to a question, Swaraj said while there had been no change made yet to the H1-B rules, Indian professionals would be impacted if the US Congress passed a private member's bill in this regard. "H1-B rules can be changed either by an executive order (issued by the US President) or by the US Congress, and we are talking to both sides," she said.

American Immigration Lawyers Association president William Stock said the change was being made retroactively and would affect people already living in the country and not just new visa applicants. "In adjudicating petitions for immigration benefits, including non-immigrant petition extensions, adjudicators must, in all cases, thoroughly review the petition and supporting evidence to determine eligibility for the benefit sought. The burden of proof in establishing eligibility is, at all times, on the petitioner," USCIS said. The new policy is in line with the Trump administration's goal to protect American workers from discrimination and replacement by foreign labour, the website Number USA said.

A transgender's journey: From begging to Judgeship

23:35

"This is the first time that a person from the community has got this opportunity. It is not just about empowerment. This is about getting into the system and getting the authority to make a difference," said Abheena Aher, founder of Trans Welfare Equity and Empowerment Trust. On 21-10-2017, when Joyita Mondal drove into Uttar Dinajpur's Islampur court premises in a white car bearing a red plaque stating 'judgeship on duty', it was an occasion for a community that has long found itself on the margins to celebrate.

As a transgender forced to beg for a living to a social worker chosen to be on the bench for a National Lok Adalat, it was a new beginning for Joyita which signalled a triumph over circumstances. Life came full circle for Joyita as the court was barely 5 minutes from the bus stand where she had slept in 2010 after hotels turned her away because of her gender. She resolved then to stand up for others like her.

Her friends from the transgender community and those who know her as a social worker recall her work as the founder secretary of Dinajpur Notun Aalo Society and flooded her Facebook timeline with congratulatory messages. It is evident that her presence on the National Lok Adalat bench along with an additional sessions judge and an advocate has given hope to many. She said she was "elated" and saw her appointment as a milestone that would send out a strong message against "gender bias" against transgender persons.

Joyita's appointment order by the office of the sub-divisional legal services committee of Islampur, Uttar Dinajpur, for the July 8 Lok Adalat described her as a social worker and put her in the category of "learned judges". The decision, as per norms, was conveyed to the State Legal Services Authority in Kolkata by the chairman of the sub-divisional committee. Members to Lok Adalat are appointed afresh every time such a special court is notified. Joyita has been working on a range of issues related to the transgender community since 2011. At the Lok Adalat, she needed to look at bank loan-related cases.

EC Unveils RONET App for Efficient Poll Management

22:38

The Election Commission on Tuesday launched a new application to be used by electoral officers for efficient management of the poll process.

The app, RONET, will be put to full-fledged use for the first time in the coming Himachal Pradesh elections. It was used in a few constituencies during the Punjab polls earlier this year.

"RONET is a specialised MIS decision support system software which provides the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), District Election Officer (DEO) and the Returning Officer (RO) with necessary information for making efficient and intelligent decisions in a time-bound manner during the election process," a note from the Commission said.

It said the app would provide updated information to these officials about polling staff deployment, EVMs, VVPATs and a host of other details like person with disability database, counting centre, polling stations and critical polling booths.

"During the polling, the presiding officer can report any law and order issue or malfunction of EVM/VVAPT from their mobile app. Immediately, the message is flashed to the Sector Officer, RO and DEO for taking corrective action.

"Upon failure of a timely response, RONET automatically escalates the matter to the next higher authority," it said.

RONET also has an app for citizens that can be downloaded and used by citizens to register voter-related issues or model code of conduct complaints. They can also do electoral roll name search and access results directly on the app.

According to the official note, RONET will also be used for processing payments to the entire workforce involved in the election process, as it has been linked with the state's treasury application.

PM Modi Offers 10 Million Jobs by 2027

PM Modi Offers 10 Million Jobs by 2027 Madhees
Prime Minister Narendra Modi replaced both Central Ministers in charge of employment.
India will be the world's biggest labour force by 2027 and one of the fastest paces of economic growth country in the world. However, the Employment of People increases the Functionality of the Government.

Questions are raising about Modi's ability to fulfil his 10 Million Jobs every year campaign pledge with less than two years to go before he faces reelections. Few were shocked when he revamped his cabinet on Sunday, replacing Skill Development Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy with Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Labor Minister Bandaru Dattatreya with Jr.Finance Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar. Mr Pradhan has successfully implemented Modi's pet projects, including offering clean cooking gas to the poor.

"There's been a complete failure when it comes to jobs creation and skilling," said Nilanjan Mukhopadhyay, a political analyst and author of a biography on Mr Modi. "The reshuffle is a clear indicator that Mr Modi is aware of the political risks this can create in 2019."

To be sure, there's demand for the skilled. India's government estimates the country will need an extra 110 million workers across 24 sectors of the economy by 2022, compared with the 105 million who will enter the workforce.

What's missing though is that only 5% of the current employees possess the required skills and it's a time running behind the Clock to train them all. Lack of funding and shortage of qualified trainers are among the reasons cited for the delay.

Teachers are one of the most Important factors affecting one

Madhees Teachers Day

Teachers are one of the most important factors affecting one’s life in a way whether and what we learn in our childhood. Outside of immediate families, teachers have the greatest influence on young women and men during their transition to adulthood, while the quality of teaching has a significant impact on children’s learning in school. In a study of 15,000 teachers across India, students’ learning outcomes were more influenced by a strong or weak teacher than by a bad or good school.

But today, on World Teachers’ Day, we must not only celebrate the importance of good teachers but also recognize and address the many challenges and burdens facing them each day. With 650 million children and youth not meeting basic developmental and learning milestones, we urgently and creatively need to come up with ways to better support our teachers.

There’s a growing shortage of teacher around the world. New estimates from the General Statistics find that 69 million new teachers will be needed to meet the goal of universal primary and secondary education for all children over the next 14 years. What’s more, the demand for teachers in low-income countries alone is projected to double by 2030. In some countries, the demand is impossible to meet, for instance in South Sudan, where it is predicted they would need 225 percent of all higher education graduates to earn education degrees to meet the demand for teachers.

One way to help close this gap is to diversify the pathways to becoming a teacher, particularly in underserved areas. The traditional formula of completing higher education, specializing during pre-service teacher training, and subsequently teaching can be supplemented by alternative approaches to bring talent into the classroom. Following the traditional way with along with the latest trend like providing the teacher to connect to the organisation where they will connect with various opportunities that can enhance skill set and also flourish choices.

For example, Madhees a consulting Arena which facilitates in Recruiting or Outsourcing for any kind of Job Description you need. Madhees with its forte in HR Processes and Consulting serves the clients from Established to Start Up’s. We are the Talent Providers & Developers in this space from last 10 Years. We do have the ability and confidence to execute anything that comes under Human Resource & Talent Acquisition.  By adding to these kinds of industries they can find the best opportunities in hand.

Increasing supply is not enough as teachers are often overburdened with responsibilities. The role of teachers must shift to allow them to focus more on instruction and the support of students. Many teachers are unable to fully focus on teaching because they are expected to perform a series of noninstructional tasks—such as managing classroom behaviour, purchasing school supplies, meeting with school personnel, completing administrative tasks, and in some cases staffing election polls or administering health interventions.

At the end we could only develop in the way where the teachers of our life lead us on.so making sure that we learn best from teachers and give them a small gratitude of success from succeeding.
